The demonstration in Spain is held in the Espinardo district, situated in the northern part of the Metropolitan Area of Murcia, which boasts a population of 460,000. Once an isolated industrial and residential zone, Espinardo has seamlessly merged with the city, transforming into a thriving urban expansion area now home to 12,500 residents.
Demo site Description
The demo site is composed of eighteen apartments (75-90 sqm each) with renovation potential, implicit DR electric tariffs, and some with self-consumption, smart meters, and IoT installations in 4 different buildings (multi-storey) and one small commercial premise equipped with:
- Implicit DR electric tariffs, energy consumption:
- 3,5 MWh/year – Around 800€/year
- Main controllable loads:
- HVAC system (heat/cool)
- Domestic hot water system (electric)
- Self-consumption – 10 kW collective PV installation
- Smart meters and IoT installations are already available in some of them
- Smart plugs, indoor environment sensors (T&H), window/door sensors, air pollutants
