Irish Demonstration siteRingsend Irishtown

The Ringsend Irishtown Sustainable Energy Co-operative implements the demonstration activities in Ireland. Located southeast of Dublin’s city centre, Ringsend Irishtown is a primarily residential area with a population of around 9,000 and an annual energy consumption of 110 GWh. Established in February 2018, the cooperative aims to foster citizen engagement in sustainable energy and seize collaborative opportunities. Since its inception, approximately €1 million has been invested in sustainable energy projects. Selected by Dublin City Council as a demonstration decarbonisation zone, Ringsend Irishtown is set to deepen community involvement in sustainability efforts.

Demo site Description

The Irish DIGITISE Demonstrator involves 20 domestic houses equipped with a variety of existing smart home technologies. The demonstrator site aims to deploy and integrate additional IoT devices for Indoor Air Quality monitoring. Selected pilot sites feature a range of energy-using technologies and aim to optimise energy savings
and self-consumption.

The domestic houses are equipped with:

  • Building Energy Systems (Mix of Solar PV , EVs, Electric Heaters, Batteries-Application)
  • Smart API based Controllers (EV Charging, IoT Smart Relays, IoT temperature Sensors, Smart Inverter (Funding Application))
